Five Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Mr. MA Yang, Director General, General Office of Academic Divisions, CAS, Mr. ZHANG Xing-Gen, Director, Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Office, CAS and Mr. WANG Shu, Director, Office of Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, General Office of Academic Divisions, CAS visited CUHK from 28 January to 2 February.

Achievements of our students in competitions in Hong Kong, Mainland China as well as overseas are shown in "Student Achievements in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Exhibition 2007" at Exhibition Hall, G/F, University Library from 29 January - 3 February, including the projects awarded Special Awards in the 10^th Challenge Cup and projects selected to enter Moot Corp.

The first unique Flagship Course on Health Sector Reform and Sustainable Financing for China was organized jointly by the Chinese Ministry of Health (MOH), World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank Institute (WBI) and the School of Public Health (SPH) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).  The course was held at School of the Public Health from November 26 to December 7, 2007, which attracted more than 30 senior Chinese government officials.

The collaboration between CUHK and institutions in China is on the increase. The Office of Academic Link (China) organizes China Links Seminar regularly to update CUHK colleagues with the latest development in the mainland. The first seminar of the year, Setting Up Joint Research Units—Experience of Collaboration with Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held on 30 January. The seminar aimed at introducing the successful experience of setting up joint research units with the institutions in China.

Professor YANG Wei, President of Zhejiang University visited CUHK on 8 January. Last month Professor Lawrence J. Lau, Vice-Chancellor of the University led a delegation to visit Zhejiang University and exchanged the latest research developments done by the faculty of CUHK with Professor YANG and his colleagues. Frequent exchanges facilitates the close relationship between the two universities.

In order to understand our student affairs, teaching, human resources, research, campus facilities and information technology, a 38-member management training class led by Professrs LIU Chuan-Sheng, Party Secretary of Beijing Normal University visited CUHK during 21 - 26 January.

The Ministry of Education of the PRC coordinated a 26-member delegation to visit CUHK to understand our campus planning on 23 January. PVC CHING Pak-Chung met with the delegation to introduce our plan of campus development. Mr. David Lim, Director of Campus Development, also introduced our campus planning and management.
