A 12-member delegation from the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the "CAE Academicians Visitorship Programme 2009" from 1 to 4 December. The delegation comprised 4 CAE academicians, including Prof. Sun Jiulin from the Division of Agricultural (CAE), Prof. Li Deren from the Division of Information and Electronic Engineering (CAE); Prof. Lu Shibi and Prof. Zhang Yun from the Division of Health Engineering (CAE). Members of the delegation also consisted of Ms Shi Liying, Deputy Secretary-General (CAE), Mr Tian Qi, Director of Bureau of International Cooperation (CAE) and representatives from The General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army and Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The delegates were warmly received by Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor-Designate; Prof. Kenneth Young, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Xu Yangsheng, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and relevant faculty members of CUHK.

Following the successful launch of the 1st Interflow Programme for Mainland Academic Links Officers last year, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the programme from 23 to 29 November, 2009. With the continued support from the Ministry of Education (MOE), 27 executives from various mainland universities participated in the programme.

Prof. Michael Hui, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) led a 12-member delegation to visit Nanjing University from 11 to 13 November. The delegation composed of senior executives from various units of CUHK including Bursary, United College, Campus Development Office, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Institutional Advancement, Information Services Office, Office of Registry Services, Personnel Office, Alumni Affairs Office, Communications and Public Relations Office, and Office of Academic Links (China).

On 27 November, a 14-member delegation led Prof. Xu Ningsheng, Vice President of the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) attended the 2^nd meeting of Steering Committee on collaboration the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Xu Ningsheng, Vice President of SYSU and Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) warmly welcomed a 6-member delegation led by Prof. Zhang Yulin, President of National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) on 27 November 2009.

To further bolster academic exchange between the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Beijing Genomics Institute, Shenzhen (BGI), a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Joint Supervision of Postgraduate Students between the two parties was signed in Shenzhen by Prof. Kenneth Young, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. Wang Jiang, Director of BGI on 15 November.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Epithelial Cell Biology Research Centre (ECBRC), a "Symposium on Frontiers in Epithelial Cell Biology Research 2009" was held in Shenzhen on 27 November. ECBRC, established as a joint effort of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, is the first integrated research institution ever founded in China which is devoted to epithelial cell biology research. The Centre has become a hub for academic exchange and research collaboration in the area of epithelial cell biology.

China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), an international event, was held in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from 16 to 21 November. The Chinese University of Hong Kong has been participating in the Fair for 6 years.
