The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has established partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) since 1990 and there have been a variety of projects between the two parties in different areas. With the aim to combining research strengths, the two universities collaborated to establish the CUHK-SJTU Joint Research Center for Human Reproduction and Related Diseases. A delegation led by Mr. Jiang Sixian, Party Secretary of SJTU attended the opening ceremony of the joint research initiative held in CUHK on 25 April 2014.
Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK officiated at the ceremony together with Mr. Jiang, stating that the establishment will further enhance exchange and foster collaborative research efforts between the two universities. Prof. Sung and Mr. Jiang signed a collaboration agreement to consolidate the work plan of the joint center on behalf of CUHK and SJTU. The two universities also renewed academic change agreement during the ceremony.
The joint research center will be housed in the Epithelial Cell Biology Research Centre (ECBRC) of CUHK and Affiliated International Peace Maternal and Child Health Hospital (the Hospital), School of Medicine of SJTU. Prof. Chan Hsiao-Chang, Director of ECBRC of CUHK and Prof. Huang He-feng, Director of the Hospital of SJTU will serve as the Co-Directors of the center which will be serving as a platform for academic exchange, resource sharing and research development in human reproduction and related areas between CUHK and SJTU. The collaboration will strengthen ties between the two universities towards long and sustainable partnership development.
