A Record High Participants in the 7th CUHK Summer Research Placement Programme for Mainland and Taiwan Students
With the aim to encourage academic exchange among students in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan, whist enhancing collaboration among the universities across the strait, Office of Academic Links (China) organized the Summer Research Placement Programme for Mainland and Taiwan Students from 29 June to 15 August 2014. The number of participants this year was a record high of 88 since the programme was launched in 2008. The participating students were from 25 Mainland and Taiwan universities as listed below.

The students were hosted by the following 15 academic and research units of the University, taking part in seven-week research training and activities.

Apart from the research training, students joined orientation sessions, seminars, visits to various government and statutory organizations, as well as social and cultural exploration activities. They also had the opportunity to interact and interflow with students of CUHK, and to learn more about the University and Hong Kong.
The Opening Ceremony on 30 June was officiated by Professor Gordon Cheung, Associate Vice President, while Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK attended the closing ceremony and joined the hosting supervisors here to present certificates to the participating students. The placement program provided a valuable learning opportunity for Mainland and Taiwan students to gain hands-on experience in conducting research in Hong Kong and strengthened partnership between the University and its partner institutions in Mainland China and Taiwan.

CU in Mainland & Taiwan - Student Interflow Programmes coordinated by OALC
OALC organizes a wide range of short-term student interflow and experiential learning programmes every summer, in collaboration with institutions in Mainland China and Taiwan. This month, a total of 43 students participated in the following 4 programmes coordinated by OALC.
