The Division of Health Improvement, School of Public Health and Primary Care of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), in collaboration with the United Kingdom's National Social Marketing Centre, organized a training workshop on social marketing during 7-11 December 2009 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. The train-the trainer workshop was funded by the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom, aiming at improving the effectiveness of HIV prevention work in China through social marketing. Key officers from the National Institute of Health Education, 7 provincial Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCs), teaching staff from Sichuan University, Nanjing Medical University, Sun Yat-Sen University and Central South University, as well as members from key Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and end users of preventive services participated in the workshop. Participants were excited about the training and the feedback was extremely positive – the overall score was around 4.7 out of 5.
The Division is committed to provide state-of-the-art training in the methodology for health improvement to stakeholders in Hong Kong and in mainland China. More training of the type, including a short course on social marketing will be launched. |
