A Walk in Community with I·CARE (1st Session): Successfully Completed

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the programme A Walk in Community with I·CARE of this academic year had failed to commence until the 15th of last month.  On that day, the first session was held in a manner not violating the social distancing measures under “Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance”.

This session was a visit to the Elderly Resources Centre of the Hong Kong Housing Society situated in Yau Ma Tei.  All 10 places were filled by CUHK students who had got a chance to tour around the MIND-friendly Home Exploration Centre.  Divided into three groups, participants listened to the introduction of the staff and the elderly volunteers of the Centre, as well as joined the experiential games, to gain an understanding of the daily challenges encountered by the people with dementia and their caretakers.  Besides, they learnt about how a friendly housing design for the aforementioned people may facilitate “aging in place”.

For enquiries about the programme A Walk in Community with I·CARE, please contact Miss Li of this Centre via 3943 2306 (Tel) or laurali@cuhk.edu.hk (Email).
