From April to July 2016, the College received a number of visitors. Details of these visits are as follows (in chronological order). Delegation from Tin Ka Ping High School of Baiyin A group of around 20 student representatives from Tin Ka Ping High School of Baiyin paid a visit to the College on 5 May 2016. Prof Kenneth Young, College Master, received the delegates and introduced the College system and features of a fully residential college. Prof Takanori KITAMURA visits CW Chu College Prof Takanori KITAMURA, former Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong, from the Department of Japanese Studies of CUHK visited CW Chu College on 25 May 2016. Prof Kenneth Young, College Master, gave Prof Kitamura a warm welcome and invited him for a tour around the College campus, visiting The Lanson Mini Library and Reading Room, the Lanson Terrace, the gym room and other facilities. They had a cordial exchange on topics including student exchange with Japan. Visit from Hanyang University On 30 June 2016, Prof Kenneth Young, College Master, welcomed three visitors from Hanyang University, ERICA campus, South Korea, and introduced the College system and features of a fully residential college. The visitors are: • Dr Jai Sung Lee, Senior Vice President, ERICA campus Their visit to CW Chu College was part of the Visit Programme organised by Office of Academic Links, CUHK. The Gordon Research Conferences 2016 The Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) is a world-renowned organisation that puts together conferences and seminars in the fields of biological, chemical and physical sciences. CUHK is hosting GRC 2016 from early June to late July 2016. CW Chu College is pleased to offer accommodation and catering services to six GRC meetings and two Gordon Research Seminars (GRS). As of this issue of the College Newsletter, four GRC meetings and two GRS have been completed. |
