Members of the delegation included Prof. Chan Wai Yee, Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences; Prof. Heng Pheng Ann of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Prof. Meng Qinghu of the Department of Electronic Engineering; Prof. Yu Ju of the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics; and Prof. Xu Yuan of the Department of Geography and Resource Management.

The meeting was a national annual event on the mainland. The theme of this year was "Innovation and Economic Restructuring". Speakers were renowned scientists including Prof. Zhou Ji, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Zhang Qingwei, Secretary-General of Hebei Government, Prof. Zhang Zhoucheng of Tsinghua University and Prof. Shi Peijun, Executive Vice-President of Beijing Normal University. Over two thousand scholars, scientists and specialists participated in the meeting.

This is the first time that CUHK formed a delegation to attend this important scientific meeting organized by CAST. The activity provided a good opportunity to build up academic links among scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau covering a wide variety of fields in science and technology. It also helped facilitate collaborations and partnership development.
