President of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Visits CUHK

Prof. Ding Zhongli, President of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 9 April 2015 to enhance links and discuss new collaboration opportunities. 

The delegates met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Kenneth Young, Master of C.W. Chu College; Prof. Lin Hui, Director of Institute of Space and Earth Information Science (ISEIS); and Prof. Chu Ming-chung of Department of Physics, to understand the recent developments of CUHK. After the meeting, the delegates visited ISEIS to obtain information on the latest research projects of the Institute and toured C.W. Chu College to learn about the unique College system of CUHK. The visit nurtured friendship and enhanced ties between the two universities, which paved the way for further collaboration.

Visit led by President of Sun Yat-sen University

 

An 8-member delegation led by Prof. Luo Jun, President of Sun Yat-sen University, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 14 April 2015. Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor; and Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK warmly greeted the guests and introduced them to the updates of the University's developments. Both sides took the opportunity to discuss the possibilities of expanding collaborative projects at various levels.

 

SYSU is one of the major partners of CUHK. Since the establishment of partnership in 1981, CUHK and SYSU have carried out a wide range of collaborative projects in student exchange, research collaboration and academic program. This is the first visit of President Luo to Hong Kong after he assumed his duty as the President of SYSU University. The visit will further strengthen the bilateral ties in various collaborations to enhance communication between the two universities.

Visit of Executive Vice Chairman of the University Council of Beihang University

Prof. Zhang Weiwei, Executive Vice Chairman of the University Council of Beihang University led a 7-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 27 April 2015. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the development of CUHK in managing university archives, publication and arts administration.

The delegation met with Prof. Michael Hui, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Chairman of the University Gallery Steering Committee and Dean of Arts; Prof. Xu Xiaodong, Associate Director of Art Museum; and Ms. Gan Qi, Director of University Press. CUHK representatives exchanged views with the delegation on the establishment of the University Gallery, management of cultural facilities as well as university publication. The delegates also toured around the University Gallery, the Art Museum and the campus.

The delegation obtained more information about the recent development of CUHK through the visit which provided a valuable opportunity to enhance links between the two universities.

Visit led by Vice-President of Shandong University

 

Prof. Chen Zijiang, Vice-President of Shandong University paid a visit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 22 April 2015. The delegation met with Prof. Joseph Lau, Master of Lee Woo Sing College; Prof. Lu Gang of School of Biomedical Sciences; Prof. Sung Yn Tz, Director of Kai Chong Tong Clinical Skills Learning Centre( CSLC) and Ms Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) to obtain knowledge on College system, medical training and academic links. After the meeting, the delegates toured the Lee Woo Sing College and CSLC.

 

Shandong University and CUHK have developed a range of joint projects including research collaboration, student activities and academic exchange. In 2013, a joint research laboratory was established on reproductive genetics. This visit strengthened links between the two universities for further collaboration.

Delegation from Guangzhou Medical University 

Prof. Wei Donghai, Vice-President of Guangzhou Medical University, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 14 April 2015 to enhance academic linkages. The delegates met with Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor to discuss on collaboration opportunities and direction. A renewal university-wide agreement was signed to foster academic exchange. The visit nurtured friendship and bolstered ties between the two universities.
