State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China Strategic Summit 2015

State Key Laboratory (SKL) of Oncology in South China Strategic Summit was held in Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) from 26-27 April 2015. Fifty members from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) attended the event. Prof. Dennis Lo, Associate Director of SKL (Partner Laboratory in CUHK) gave a welcoming address at the opening ceremony. He emphasized the importance of continuous fruitful collaborations between two universities under the auspice of SKL.  Prof. Anthony Chan of CUHK co-chaired the Summit with Prof. Miles Qian of SYSU whilst Prof. KF To of CUHK and Prof. Tiebang Kang of SYSU served as moderators for the presentation sessions. Prof. Allen Chan, Dr. Angela Lo and Dr. Stephen Chan gave talks of their recent research work at the Summit covering topics from circulating DNA in cancer patients, EBV-encoded Latent Membrane Protein 1 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma to Phase One cancer drug development. The presentations given by young researchers from both institutions were stimulating with potentials for further collaborative works. In 2006, CUHK established the State Key Laboratory in Oncology in South China in collaboration with SYSU. The Summit is a bi-annual event which was first held in Shenzhen in April 2011 for academic members and students from both universities to exchange ideas and share their research achievements in oncology.
