Eighteen institutions comprising 52 students participated in the programme this year, including Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University, Fudan University, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Jinan University, Peking University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai University of T.C.M, Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan Chiao Tung University, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University etc. Participants took part in research internship programme for 8 weeks on different projects covering Chinese Medicine, Electronic Engineering, Housing Innovations, Mathematics, Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Physics, and Systems Engineering & Engineering Management, Occupational and Environmental Health, Theoretical Computer Science and Communications, and Translation.

Apart from research training, the students were provided with opportunities to interflow with postgraduate students of CUHK and to tour key research facilities in the University. Visits were also arranged to some major public organizations in Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission and Independent Commission Against Corruption and Legislative Council. These activities offered a broader picture of CUHK and Hong Kong to participants. 

The placement programme has created a valuable learning opportunity for Mainland and Taiwan postgraduate students to study in Hong Kong, and strengthened partnership with the key partners of the University.
