| Five Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Mr. MA Yang, Director General, General Office of Academic Divisions, CAS, Mr. ZHANG Xing-Gen, Director, Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Office, CAS and Mr. WANG Shu, Director, Office of Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, General Office of Academic Divisions, CAS visited CUHK from 28 January to 2 February.
The five Academicians including Professor JU Gong, the Institute of Neurosciences, Fourth Military Medical University, Professor LIU Yi-Xun, the Institute of Zoology, CAS, Professor SUN Han-Dong, Kunming Institute of Botany, CAS, Professor ZHANG Yong-Lian, Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS and Professor ZHAO Guo-Ping, Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS, delivered public lectures on Lecture Series by Academicians which was held on 1 February. Over hundred participants attended the Lecture Series and engaged in a fruitful dialogue with the academicians. The delegation also visited the Institute of Plant Molecular Biology and Agricultural Biotechnology, the Institute of Chinese Medicine, Epithelial Cell Biology Research Centre and Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences to understand CUHK's latest science and technology research development during the six-day visit. CUHK and CAS have developed deep collaboration since 1979 and have established various joint-research institutes and laboratories. The launch of the programme will facilitate the linkages between the two parties. |
