Visit of Vice-Chairman, Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China
Prof. Lu Yongxiang, Vice-Chairman, Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, paid a visit to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 16 October 2012 to enhance academic exchange. Prof. Lu was accompanied by Mr. Li Lu, Deputy Director General of the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR.
Prof. Lu was warmly received by CUHK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Sung. Representatives participated in the reception included: Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Henry Wong, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; and Prof. Gordon Cheung; Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor. CUHK members introduced to Prof. Lu the recent developments of the University. Prof. Lu commended the achievement of CUHK and gave advices on further directions. Next Prof. Lu toured the Art Museum under the guidance of Prof. Henry Wong and Ms. Lai Suk-yee, Assistant Curator of the Museum.
Professor Lu has a strong academic bond with CUHK. During his presidency of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Professor Lu supported a variety of collaboration projects between CAS and CUHK, such as the Joint Laboratory for Geoinformation Science, the Shanghai-Hong Kong Joint Laboratory in Chemical Synthesis and especially the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, CAS.

Visit of Deputy Party Secretary of Peking University
A delegation led by Prof. Ye Jingyi, Deputy Party Secretary of Peking University (PKU) visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 5 October 2012 to learn about the development of the support and financial aids to students in university.
The delegation met with Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Mrs Grace Chow, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid; Mr. Raymond Leung, Director of Student Affairs; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) to understand the services and supports for students in CUHK. Visit was paid to S.H. Ho College and the delegates toured around the CUHK campus. Through meetings and discussions, the delegation obtained knowledge on student affairs, financial aids for students and college system in CUHK. The visit also further strengthened relationships between CUHK and PKU.

Delegation from Shenzhen
Sun Fujin, Assistant Director of Shenzhen City Organization Committee Office led a 12-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 25 October 2012. The aim of the visit was to understand the management structure of the University. Members of the delegation included representatives from institutions and government officials in Shenzhen and Guangdong.
Meetings and visits were arranged and the delegates met with CUHK members including Prof. Xu Yangsheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Mr K.C. Yuen, Acting Director of Personnel. The visit provided the delegation with a broader understanding of the development of CUHK and established links.
