The 2nd meeting of Steering Committee on Collaboration between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held on 1 April 2015 in Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, CAS. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. Zhang Yaping, Vice President of CAS.
Over 30 CUHK and CAS members from joint projects comprising Synthetic Chemistry, Phytochemistry, Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicines, Molecular Research of Common Diseases, Solar Energy, Multimedia Technology, High Density Electronic Packaging Materials and Devices, Precision Engineering, Psychology and Big Data participated in the meeting. Each team reported the recent progresses of their projects, reviewing the possibilities to facilitate deep collaboration. During the meeting, two agreements were signed for joint projects including the collaboration between the Big Data Decision Analytics Research Centre of CUHK and National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences of CAS, as well as the establishment of a joint research laboratory between CUHK and Institute of Psychology in CAS.
CAS is one of the close and important partners of CUHK. Since the establishment of partnership in 1986, CUHK and CAS have carried out a wide range of collaborative projects in academic exchange and research collaboration. CUHK has established 2 State Key Laboratories in collaboration with CAS and other joint laboratories in a variety of research areas. CUHK also organizes the annual CAS Academicians Visit Program to strengthen the partnership with CAS. The Steering Committee was set up by the two parties to forge effective and sustainable relationship. At the 2nd meeting this year, Psychology and Big Data joined as newly developed areas.
