The opening ceremony was officiated by Prof. Pan Yunhe, Executive Vice President of CAE; Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. Way Kuo, President of City University of Hong Kong; Mr. Ji Jianjun, Division Chief of Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR.

During the opening ceremony, Prof. Joseph Sung expressed his gratitude to CAE for inviting CUHK to co-organize the first-ever event in Hong Kong. He said, 'The exhibition will let students to get to know the significance of integrating science and technology with art as well as enhancing their knowledge of traditional Chinese art and culture.'

A delegation of CAE headed by Professor Pan Yunhe attended the opening ceremony. Members of the delegation included Prof. He Jishan of South China University; Prof. Xie Heping, President of Sichuan University; Prof. Shen Dezhong of Tsinghua University and Prof. Wang Xiaodong of Xinjiang Architectural Design and Research Institute. During the visit, Prof. Xie Heping renewed the collaboration agreement between Sichuan University and CUHK.

The Scientific Reasoning and Artistic Minds Seminar was held after the ceremony. The five academicians of the CAE delegation gave presentations on integration of science and art in their chosen fields. Prof. Joseph Sung and Prof. Xu Yangsheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor also shared their experiences and views with the guests during the discussion session. The seminar attracted students and scholars from different fields to meet and exchange ideas.

Staged at the Foyer of Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, the exhibition in CUHK will showcase the artworks of the following academicians until 6 October 2012: Prof. Cheng Tianmin, Prof. Fu Xinian, Prof. He Jishan, Prof. Li Zhensheng, Prof. Pan Yunhe, Prof. Shen Dezhong, Prof. Joseph Sung, Prof. Wang Yuan, Prof. Wang Xiaodong, Prof. Wu Liangyong, Prof. Xie Heping, Prof. Xu Yangsheng, and Prof. Zhong Xunzheng.
