News: Prof. Peter Y. K. Lam received two Gold Medal Awards |
Congratulations to Prof. Peter Y. K. Lam, Honorary Research Fellow of ICS, for Receiving Two Gold Medal Awards.
On 12 October 2021, as part of the centenary celebration the Oriental Ceramic Society, London, awarded the Hills Gold Medal to Prof. Lam for his distinguished contribution to the study of Oriental Art.
Also on 16 December 2021, Prof. Lam was awarded the J.M. Hu Memorial Gold Medal Prize by the Min Chiu Society, Hong Kong, for his contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Chinese art and culture.

Event Report: Research Programme for Lingnan Culture — Elegant Chaozhou Music Concert |
The Research Programme for Lingnan Culture, Institute of Chinese Studies and the Department of Music, CUHK held a concert named “Elegant Chaozhou Music” at 5 pm on 21 October 2022 at the courtyard of the Institute of Chinese Studies. The Hong Kong Chiuchow Music Ensemble, headed by Mr. Lau Fuk Kwong, a Chaozhou Music maestro, was invited to perform. Prof. Frederick Lau, Chair of CUHK’s Music Department, and Dr. Chan Chi Chun, Director of the Centre for Chinese Music Studies, CUHK, came to the concert to offer a guidance on Chaozhou music performance. The audiences had a pleasant evening by enjoying the beautiful rhythm of Chaozhou Music.
The pieces presented include: “The Skipping Thrush”, “Carmine”, “Fish Hawks Dabbling in the Water”, “Liu Qingniang”, “Lions Playing with a Ball” and more. |

Event Report: The Third Southern Institute of Chinese Linguistics, T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre |
Southern Institute of Chinese Linguistics, initiated by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), the CUHK, and University of Macau (UM), is the flagship of the efforts of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao University Alliance for Chinese (GHMUAC) to promote Chinese linguistics and intellectual exchange among colleagues and students of the field based in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area).
The Third Southern Institute of Chinese Linguistics, organised by GHMUAC, hosted by Department of Chinese Language and Literature, UM, and co-organised by Department of Chinese Language and Literature, SYSU, and T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre of the Institute of Chinese Studies, CUHK, took place virtually on 10–17 December 2022.
