First Photo Day of First SHHO Graduates |
It has been three years since S.H. Ho College admitted its first cohort of students back in 2010, 54 of whom become the first SHHO graduates this year. 22 March 2013 was the College's first Photo Day organized by Student Union of the College. Fabulous decorations from different participating departments made it a carnival of the College.

Prof. Dennis Lo Elected to US National Academy of Sciences |
Prof. Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Director of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences at CUHK and Fellow of S. H. Ho College, has just been elected as Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the United States of America. Founded in 1863, the NAS is one of the world's premier learned societies. Election to the NAS is a widely accepted indicator of scientific excellence and is considered one of the highest honours that a scientist can receive. In the current election, 84 new members and 21 foreign associates from 14 countries were elected.

SHHO's Law Night: Mr. Wong Yan Long and his Sharing as Former Secretary for Justice |
The College's High Table Dinner on 20 March had Mr. Wong Yan Long, SC, former Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong, in the house to share his thoughts from his days as the Justice Minister. Together invited at the high table were Prof. Christopher Gane, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Prof. Michael Lower of the Faculty of Law. It was like a "law night" of the College.

SHHO Fellow Prof. C.P. Wong Named 2012 Winner of Dresden Barkhausen Award |
Prof. C.P. Wong, Dean of Engineering and Fellow of S.H. Ho College, was selected to receive the 2012 Dresden Barkhausen Award. The Dresden Barkhausen Award has been granted to scientists with outstanding results in applied research and development at frontier areas between physics, materials science, and electrical engineering since 2006.

Seeing with Your Inner Eyes: Dr. Philemon Choi Yuen-wan on Effective Ways to Serve |
S.H. Ho College's High Table Dinner on 20 February had Dr. Philemon Choi Yuen-wan, Hon. General Secretary of Breakthrough, to speak on effective ways to serve those in need. After the "5.12" great earthquake in Sichuan, Dr. Choi and his team entered into the disastrous areas to conduct training in traumatic psychological rehabilitation. They provided counselling services that attended to the people's mental, psychological and spiritual needs, and helped them rebuild inner strength and restore confidence in life.

GESH1010 Freshers' Fest: Concluding Display of Freshmen's Final Productions |
From 1 March to 8 March 2013, first floor of Chan Chun Ha Hall was decorated with colourful t-shirts and delicate handicrafts. It was the annual Freshers' Fest that showcased Final Productions from the College General Education Programme - GESH1010 Orientation and Outreach.

What is the colour of the sky? Blue? Black? It took me a long time to find out the answer. When I was fourteen years old, I went with a constellation book to Victorian Park which in those days was very dark. While I was looking, it occurred to me that I was not looking at the sky. Most of the time when we thought of the sky, we were thinking it as a reversed bowl. But at that time I discovered I was not looking at a black bowl, I was looking at nothing; it was space with no light coming into my eyes. So it is actually colourless. It is infinite space.

SHHO Members Received Prizes in CUHK Golden Jubilee Marathon Team Award Ceremony |
In the CUHK Golden Jubilee Marathon Team Award Ceremony held on 20 April, SHHO members Prof. Katrina Tsang, the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, and Mr. Emery Chan, the Dean of Students' Office, received trophies in recognition of their outstanding performance at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon and the strenuous support from the College. Prof. Tsang was champion of female-staff team in half-marathon, while Mr. Chan won the 1st runner-up of male-staff team in half-marathon.

Farewell, SHHO Graduates! |
To send best wishes to the College's first batch of graduates and to express sincere gratitude to their remarkable contributions to the development of a new college, S.H. Ho College 2013 Graduate Class Farewell Dinner was held on 27 May in Ho Sin Hang Hall for students, family members, College members and Overseers. The dinner was filled with warm memories and touching stories.
