International Conferences organized by the Centre for the Study of Humanistic Buddhism

In order to further promote the studies of humanistic Buddhism, the Centre of the Study of Humanistic Buddhism will host the following two international conferences, respectively in November 2015 and January 2016 in CUHK campus. Details are as follows:

Theme 1: Development of Humanistic Buddhism in East Asia and South East Asia

The conference aims to provide a platform of exchange and sharing for local and overseas scholars specialized in the research of Humanistic Buddhism or Buddhism in East and South East Asia. Scholars from Hong Kong and overseas, including China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Malaysia will be invited to the conference.

Theme 2: Humanistic Pure Land and Amitabha Pure Land

The Conference is jointly organized by Western Monastery and Chinese Buddhism Cultural Centre Limited and the Centre. It will focus on the discussion of Humanistic Pure Land and Amitabha Pure Land and the establishment of relevant theories, exchanges among different Buddhist traditions and the future prospect of Buddhism. Over 50 scholars from the United States, Canada, Britain, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia will join the conference.
