The two-day-one-night "Hakka Cultural Camp" served as a platform to promote effective communication between youngsters and elderly and to facilitate mutual respect and appreciation among them. The youth were also allowed to learn about the traditions and history of the Hakka that are worthwhile being preserved.
The event took place in Suen Douh Camp, Fanling where a total of 20 CUHK students paired up with members of the Ellen Li District Elderly Community Centre of Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association to be engaged in various experiential activities and interactive games. They bought fresh produce from the wet market for their preparation of authentic Hakka dishes, and tilled the land at the Y Farm for Healthy Ageing, etc.
