This event aims to offer an opportunity to the people in different age groups to broaden their horizon. Through the interaction among these people, inclusion of different generations is hoped to emerge. To strengthen our students' communication skills with secondary students and with the elderly, a series of pre-event training was provided. They have also learnt how to serve and care for others, which is in line with the mission of this Centre.
Activities in the event were multi-faceted. They included a model lecture presided by Dr. Tong Shiu Sing, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physics; a group lunch for exchange at the university canteen; and a campus tour to enjoy the beautiful scenery, etc. In addition, participants paid visits to special teaching facilities on campus e.g. Maker Bubble at the Learning Garden of The University Library, and the Creative Media Laboratory of the School of Journalism and Communication. Some of the visits were introduced by students who had first-hand experience of using the facilities, which enabled the participants to gain a thorough understanding of the corresponding subject.
At the Closing Ceremony of the event, Prof. Edwin Chan (Co-Chairman of the Steering Committee for Promoting Personal Development through Social and Civic Engagement), Prof. To Siu-ming (Convenor of the Working Group for the I·CARE Social Service Projects Scheme), Miss Tobey Yung (representative of Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation), and Ms. Irene Ng (Director of this Centre) were present to witness the gains of both participants and organisers.
