6. Meet New Library Staff

Ms. Jenny Lam
Open Science Librarian

What do you do at the Library? What are you responsible for?

As the Open Science Librarian at CUHK, I lead the Library’s exciting initiative to promote open science principles and practices. My responsibilities include advocating for open access initiatives and enhancing research transparency within the university community. I actively cultivate partnerships with key stakeholders, such as the CUHK Press, to support open access publishing pilots and platform experiments. My ultimate goal is to foster a vibrant open science culture at CUHK, contributing to the advancement of open science in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

What is your educational background and work experience?

I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Information Science. Prior to joining CUHK Library, I spent six years at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Research Support and Faculty Librarian. In that role, I provided open access support for researchers, managing Open Researcher and Contributor ID profiles, evaluating Transformative Agreements, offering consultation on research metrics, and overseeing citation search services. Simultaneously, I served as a Faculty Liaison for Applied Science, Textiles, and Design, supporting faculty in collection development and providing information literacy education for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Open science is an emerging focus in research support and scholarly communication. Making your research accessible can significantly enhance its visibility and impact. I am happy to discuss this exciting area with you further.
