Following last year's visit, Prof. Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), together with Mr. Tan Tieniu, Deputy Secretary-General, CAS and Mr. An Jianji, Director, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office, CAS visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) again on 5 December 2013.
Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President and Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor warmly welcomed the delegates and shared with them the latest research development of CUHK. During the visit, Prof. Bai et al were arranged to meet with CUHK representatives who had been in charge of the different CUHK-CAS joint laboratories established in the campus. They included Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) and Co-Director of the CUHK-CAS Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health Joint Research Laboratory on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Prof. Lin Ge, Professor of SBS and Co-Director of the CUHK-SIMM CAS Joint Research Laboratory for Promoting Globalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Prof. Nelson L.S. Tang, Associate Member of SBS's Reproduction, Development and Endocrinology Program and Associate Director of the CAS Kunming Institute of Zoology-CUHK Joint Laboratory of Bio-resources and Molecular Research of Common Diseases. Apart from updating Prof. Bai et al on the recent developments of these joint laboratories, they were also guided to visit these collaborative establishments set up inside the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building, Area 39, CUHK.
