This year, apart from introducing our preclinical courses offered to the MBChB Programme and other non-medical programmes of the Faculty of Medicine by the members of Teaching and Learning Unit, a series of admission talks cum consultation sessions for the new BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme were conducted by our Prof. Andrew M.L. Chan, Prof. Alisa S.W. Shum, and Dr Ann S.N. Lau, respectively, which attracted the attendance of over 600 visitors including secondary school students, teachers and parents. After the briefing on the programme design, curriculum structure, career prospects and admission requirements, many of the prospective students inquired about the concentration areas of the Programme and internship opportunities. Several rounds of tour of the core laboratories at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building were arranged immediately after each admission talk. Visitors joining the tours were greatly impressed by our state-of-the-art research facilities and gained a wider understanding of how the study of the Programme would be supported by the School's cutting-edge equipment and facilities.
Aside from the admission talks, a press conference was also arranged on the same day by the Communications and Public Relations Office at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, featuring the two new bachelor programmes of CUHK to be launched in 2016-2017, with one being the BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme. Prof Chan Wai-yee, Director of SBS, Prof Fung Kwok-pui, Programme Director of BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme and Dr Ann S.N. Lau, Assistant Director (Undergraduate Education - BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme), attended the press conference and gave an introduction of the new programme to the media.
