The College's 69th Graduation Ceremony was held at the University Mall on 19 November 2020. It was our honor to have invited Professor Leung Yuen-sang, Director of Research Centre for Contemporary Chinese Culture, Institute of Chinese Studies; Emeritus Professor, Research Professor of the Department of History; Former Head of Faculty of Art; Former Head of Chung Chi College; Former Director of Institute of Chinese Studies, CUHK, to officiate the Ceremony. A total of 787 graduates were awarded graduation certificates this year. The Ceremony was held without on-site audience due to the pandemic, and was broadcast live via Internet to the graduates and parents.
In his remarks, College Head Professor Henry N.C. Wong offered his congratulations and encouraged graduates to embody the “New Asia Spirit” by persevering in the midst of adversity. Officiating guest Professor Leung Yuen-sang then inspired graduates to forge ahead through difficulties by telling the struggles of Mr. Ch’ien Mu, one of our Founders, when he was at the National Southwestern Associated University during the Second Sino-Japanese War. He urged graduates to cultivate “ShenDu” (being watchful over oneself) and “SuiXin” (to follow one’s own mind), so as to maintain independent thinking and a clear mind.
