Visit of a Group of Arts Ambassadors
With a focus on the design and architectural features of our College campus, Professor Thomas Chung, College teacher and Assistant Professor of School of Architecture, arranged a guided tour at our College for a group of secondary school students on 16 August 2014. The group of 22 S4 to S6 students were selected by Hong Kong Arts Development Council to join the 6th Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme Summer Workshop 'Experiencing Architecture'. Mr SM Fung, Director of Campus Development, led the tour and showed participants around the hostel.
Delegation from Jiangsu Normal University
A delegation comprising 40 students and teachers from Jiangsu Normal University visited CW Chu College on 15 October 2014 to gain a better understanding of the CUHK collegiate system and College life. Two College student representatives from Mainland China conducted a campus tour and introduced them to the philosophy of a fully residential College. The College students also shared their personal experiences of living and studying in the College with the visitors.
Delegation from CUHK (Shenzhen)
Two delegations from the CUHK (Shenzhen) paid visits to CW Chu College on 17 October 2014 and 11 November 2014 respectively, with the aim to learn about the architectural design of College buildings and hostel facilities, so as to take it as a reference for the development of the Campus in Shenzhen. The student-oriented concepts were explained to the delegations.
Visit from Chu Scholars
Four Chu Scholars, Ms Isabella Chan, Ms Ellen Lam, Dr May Szeto, Dr Helena Yeung, were warmly received by Professor Kenneth Young, College Master, and Ms Melody Lee, College Secretary, on 20 October 2014. They took a tour of the College campus and appreciated the tranquil environment and thoughtful facilities for the College students.
Another group of Chu Scholars including Ms Agnes Ho, Ms Clara Ho, Ms Emily Lau, Ms May Wong and Ms Christina Wu visited the College on 21 Nov 2014. They remarked that the College environment had revived their fond memories of their hostel life and their treasured friendships with other Chu scholars.
Dr Albert Lau, the first student to receive a scholarship from Dr CW Chu, back in the 1960s, joined the communal dinner on 6 November 2014 and shared his experience with College teachers and students.
Visit of the HKSSA Delegation
A delegation of 41 members from the Hong Kong Student Services Association (HKSSA), led by its Chairperson, Mr Raymond Leung, visited CW Chu College on 29 October 2014 to learn more about a fully-residential College of CUHK and to encourage exchange among staff working on student affairs in local tertiary institutions.
The visit began with an introduction by Professor Kenneth Young, College Master, on the collegiate system of CUHK and how the College managed to build an integrated community through its full residency, communal dining, and learning activities. The delegation then met with Professor Wong Suk Ying, Dean of Students, and Ms Melody Lee, College Secretary, and joined a guided tour of the College campus. The delegation was captivated by the hostel's facilities and engaged in a fruitful exchange with the College staff on students' affairs and College management.
