6. Meet New Library Staff

Ms. Carol Kong
Creative Learning Librarian and Faculty Liaison Librarian (Engineering)

What Do You Do at the Library?

I joined the CUHK Library in February 2023 as the Creative Learning Librarian and Faculty Liaison Librarian (Engineering). My primary role is to oversee and manage the Learning Garden & MakerSpace. I work closely with library patrons, including students, faculty and community members, to provide consultation, support and training on the use of various tools and technologies.

As the Faculty Liaison Librarian (Engineering), I am responsible for liaising with faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering to develop library collections, as well as for supporting their teaching, learning and research.

What Is Your Educational Background and Work Experience?

I hold a bachelor's degree in Computing Mathematics, which has equipped me with a solid foundation in technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. After realising my passion for both information management and education, I pursued a master’s degree in Library and Information Management. This interdisciplinary background allows me to bridge the gap between technology and librarianship.

Prior to joining the CUHK Library, I worked as a Learning Support Librarian for other academic libraries. My experience in educational settings has honed my ability to adapt to different learning styles and instructional needs, enabling me to ensure that the Learning Garden & MakerSpace is accessible and beneficial to all users.

I am dedicated to creating an inclusive and dynamic environment that encourages curiosity, creativity and collaboration. Please feel free to reach out to me for any inquiries or assistance related to our resources. I look forward to working with you!
