The College would like to congratulate the following College members for their academic achievements. Prof Tjonnie Li Shares in Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics The biggest news in science in 2016 is the detection of gravitational waves by LIGO, which won the 2016 Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics of US$ 3 million, and also the Shaw Prize. Prof Tjonnie Guang Feng Li, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, is among the many team members honoured by the Breakthrough Prize, and shares in the award. Prof Li is one of the authors of the paper 'Observation of gravitational waves from a binary black hole merger', Phys. Rev. Lett. 116, 061102 (2016). Prof Evelyn Chan Wins CUHK Young Researcher Award (2015–16) Prof Evelyn Chan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, has been awarded the Young Researcher Award (2015–16) of the University for her book, Virginia Woolf and the Professions (Cambridge University Press, 2014). Miss Ng Sin Yu receives Bronze Medal in Outstanding Academic Awards Miss Ng Sin Yu, Year 3 medical student of the College, won the Bronze Medal in the Dr and Mrs Tzu Leung Ho Honor Society Outstanding Academic Awards. |
