Communal dining is an integral part of student life at CW Chu College, and is intended to enhance interaction among students and with teachers, and to enable students to benefit from the wisdom and experience of speakers from various walks of life. It is organized for every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, in the student canteen in Benjamin Franklin Centre, starting at 6.30 pm. There will be a total of 33 communal dinners plus 2 High Table dinners during first term. The first communal dinner took place on Tuesday 11 September.

There will be a speaker after every Wednesday dinner.  The first dinner talk on 12 September was given by the College Master, Prof Kenneth Young.  He talked about curiosity as one of the distinguishing features of university life and illustrated it with advances in cosmology.

The second dinner talk titled "Music @ CW Chu" was delivered by one of the College's teaching members, Mr. Terence Lam. During his presentation, Mr Lam shared with teachers and students some features and styles of Baroque music and gave a brief introduction on two pieces of selected processional music. Students were invited to express views about the piece to be used for future formal College functions/ events.
