Prof. Lai gave a lecture entitled “Temple Tradition in Hong Kong and Its Relationship with Popular Customs of China”, which was moderated by Mr. Wong Ho Chiu, trustee of the College and member of the Committee on New Asia College Cultural Talks. The lecture was well received by the public, and was attended by audiences from various sectors, College alumni and students.
In the talk, Prof. Lai introduced the temple tradition in Hong Kong which includes the category of temples, declared monuments and their history. He also explained other aspects related to temples, for example, shrine, statue of god, etc., as well as the relationship between the temple tradition and Chinese customs. Prof. Lai also shared valuable and interesting photos featuring different temples, shrines and folk customs. Participants could then understand more on the topics which Prof. Lai covered. During the Q&A session, participants actively took part in inspiring discussions with the speaker.
