The guests were warmly welcomed by Prof. Francis K.L. Chan, Dean of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, Director of SBS, and Prof. Woody W.Y. Chan, Associate Director (Graduate Education) of SBS. The meeting was started off with a brief introduction of CUHK's regulations on joint postgraduate programmes given by the Dean, followed presentations with the focus and recent findings in each of the three newly-restructured Thematic Research Programmes (TRPs) of SBS by Prof. Yao Xiaoqiang, Chief of the Neural, Vascular, and Metabolic Biology (NVMB) Theme, Prof. Alfred S.L. Cheng, Deputy Chief of the Cancer Biology and Experimental Therapeutics (CBET) Theme, and Prof. Wan Chao, representative from the Developmental and Regenerative Biology (DRB) Theme, respectively. The meeting was concluded with a discussion on possibility for developing a joint master degree programme in Biomedical Sciences between the two institutions.
This is the first time the School connected with the University of Glasgow. The visit laid down a good foundation of mutual understanding on collaborations in the future.
