The project on "the Pattern of Hidden Elderly in Public Estates" focuses on the elderly residents of Cheung Wah Estate, Fanling. Members found that most of the elderly being interviewed seldom interacted with the community, had a high risk of falls and were in lack of reliable food safety information. To enhance their awareness of safety in daily life, members organised the "Elderly Well-being Day" at Cheung Wah Community Hall on the 20th of this month with a range of activities including food safety talk, fall-prevention workshop and interactive games, etc.
As for "the Child Caretaker in Grass-roots Families" project, members identified numerous daily challenges faced by the caretakers. Members were therefore divided into groups to explore solutions for improvements based on three aspects: (1) to open up effective channels on social welfare information for the caretakers; (2) to enhance the caretakers' knowledge of prevention of strain injury; and (3) to increase public's understanding of the work of the caretakers.
