The 4th I·CARE Book Festival: Curtain Rung Down

Themed "Reading is Voyaging through Time and Space", the 4th I·CARE Book Festival consists of a "Book Crossing Pavilion", 14 "Book Talks", "Preferential Offer of New Books" and the "Film Screening of The Reader".  It had lasted for three weeks and was nicely concluded on the 28th of March.  It is believed to have successfully fostered a culture of literacy on campus and connected different CUHK people through the sharing of books.

Concerning the "Book Talks", they covered a wide variety of intriguing topics which had attracted participation of nearly 1,700 CUHK students, staff, alumni and the general public.  Numerous renowned scholars, authors, translators were invited to share the people and events in their works.  The first talk was addressed by Joyshan Kung while Leung Man-tao spoke in the final one.  Other prominent speakers included, inter alia, Lai Ming-chu (well-known translator of Haruki Murakami's fictions), Joseph Sung (former Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK), and Fu Yue-an (famous Taiwanese publisher).

To support the "Book Talks", The Chinese University Press and the University Bookstore offered favourable and exclusive discounts to CUHK people when they purchased selected books during the 4th I·CARE Book Festival.  The University Library also arranged an exhibition showcasing the books as recommended by the speakers.
