CW Chu College The Chinese University of Hong Kong eNewsletter

From February to June 2017, the College received a number of visitors. The visitors learnt about the CUHK College system and the features of CW Chu College. Details of these visits are as follows (in chronological order).

Prof James KENNEDY, Dean, University College Utrecht, from Utrecht University, the Netherlands

A delegation of seven teachers and staff from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, visited CUHK on 13 April 2017. Prof James KENNEDY, a member of the delegation and Dean of University College Utrecht, visited CW Chu College on the same day, and was greeted by Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, College Master. So far, the College has received five incoming exchange students from Utrecht University during term time, and has sent nine College students to Utrecht University in summer since the academic year 2014–15. Two College students will be on exchange to Utrecht University in Term 2 in the coming academic year.

Visit from a Chu Scholar

Ms Alice Wai-Fong CHEUNG, a Chu Scholar, visited the College on 5 May 2017. Ms Melody LEE, College Secretary, gave her a warm welcome, and accompanied her for a pleasant campus tour.

Delegation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen

A delegation of over 30 teachers and administrators from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen visited the College on 26 May 2017. Ms Melody LEE, College Secretary, Ms Alice TANG, Executive Officer and Benjamin LI, Resident Tutor, welcomed the delegation, followed by a guided tour of the College. Ms LEE hosted a sharing session about the CUHK College system, and facilitated a group discussion session jointly with Ms Sandy P S LEE, College Secretary of Wu Yee Sun College.

Delegation from South China Normal University

A delegation of over twenty teachers and administrators from South China Normal University visited the College on 12 June 2017. Prof Kenneth YOUNG gave the delegation a warm welcome and hosted a sharing session about the CUHK College system, followed by a guided tour of the hostel, led by Ms Alice TANG, Executive Officer and College staff.

Delegation from Wuhan University

A six-person delegation of teachers and administrators from Wuhan University visited the College on 14 June 2017. They were received by Prof Kenneth YOUNG, Prof LIU Yaxian, a visiting scholar to the College, and Ms Melody LEE, College Secretary. They gave the delegation a warm welcome and a guided tour to the College.

Visit from Prof Lawrence J LAU

Prof Lawrence J LAU, former Vice-Chancellor and President, and Ralph and Claire Landau Professor of Economics, CUHK, visited the College on 29 June 2017. Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, College Master, Prof Kenneth YOUNG and Ms Melody LEE, College Secretary, gave Prof LAU a warm welcome. Prof LAU visited The Lanson Mini Library and Reading Room and took pictures in front of the art pieces that he has donated to the College.
