"Teaching in the New Normal" Online Seminar Series

The "new normal" refers to the new mode of teaching and learning at schools in the face of the pandemic, where combined online and face-to-face teaching with adequate social distancing is required. The four seminars under the series were well-received and student teachers gained valuable insights from experienced educators’ sharing on how to effectively utilize Learning Management System (LMS) and different apps in e-learning and teaching.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Online Course (offered by The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong)

A group of 30 PGDE and Undergraduate student teachers successfully completed the 12-hour MHFA standard course (online) which was delivered by the experienced and qualified instructors of the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong in Term 2.

MHFA is the help given to someone who is developing or experiencing a mental health crisis before he or she can obtain professional treatment. We believe the course could equip our pre-service teachers with essential knowledge and skills to identify and support students with relevant problems that they may encounter in the future.

British Council X CUHK-Pre-Service Teacher Training Workshop:
Core Skills for Life Programme

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust British Council Core Skills for Life programme was organised by British Council and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

We are honored to collaborate with British Council for a second time to arrange an interactive workshop on 28 May 2021 to our pre-service teachers.  It was a fruitful afternoon to the participants to acquire necessary knowledge for integrating core skills into classes from the experienced teacher trainer, Ms Winnie Pang, of the British Council, helping them to identify core skills (e.g., critical thinking, digital literacy, communication, etc.) and enhance their teaching through developing these skills amongst their young learners in the future.
