The event was well attended by more than 230 participants, including members of the School, thematic Associate Members from clinical departments as well as guests from the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the City University of Hong Kong, the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, U.S.A. and the University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
In order to promote scientific interactions and collaborative relationships outside Hong Kong, we were honored to have Prof. Jean-Marc-Lemaitre, Director of INSERM Laboratory, Genome Plasticity and Aging, Institute of Functional Genomics, France and Prof. Lin Xu, Director, Key Laboratory of Animal Models and Human Disease Mechanisms, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), serving as Plenary Speakers. In addition, a four-member delegation from the Kunming Institute of Zoology, CAS also joined us in the event.
Members (including clinical Associate Members) of the three Thematic Research Programs (TRP), "Neuro-degeneration, -development and Repair", "Stem Cell and Regeneration" and "Vascular and Metabolic Biology" gave oral presentations during the event and members of the other two TRPs, "Cancer and Inflammation" and "Reproduction, Development and Endocrinology" shared their research work through poster presentation.
All the participants, including professors, postgraduate students and research staff of different local or overseas institutes had a good time to get familiarized with each other, and to share and exchange research ideas during the two-day event. We sincerely wish to thank for all the supporters of the event.
