| Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of The Chinese University of Hong Kong – University of Southampton Joint Laboratory for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine | |

Having gained better understanding after several mutual visits between the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the University of Southampton (UOS) since 2011, Prof. Joseph J. Y. Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President of the CUHK and Prof. Sir Christopher Snowden, President and Vice-Chancellor of UOS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on establishing the CUHK-UOS Joint Laboratory for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine on 13 October 2016. This newly established Joint Laboratory will be co-directed by Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Managing Director of Core Laboratories and Chief of the Developmental and Regenerative Biology Thematic Research Program of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), CUHK; and Prof. Richard Oreffo, Chair of Musculoskeletal Science and Director of the Centre for Human Development, Stem Cells and Regeneration, Faculty of Medicine, UOS. With primary focuses on research in stem cell and regenerative medicine, the Joint Laboratory will serve as a platform for tightening academic connection between the two institutions through personnel exchanges, research collaborations and student training programs.
