The research team on "Elderly-friendly Housing" paid home visits to 15 live-alone elderly at Cheung Wah Estate, Fanling on 20 and 24 November to get to know the living patterns, health condition and social habits of these people. The team also assisted ChariGreen, an environmental organisation, in distributing surplus food to the elderly in the locality. By reaching out to the elderly through different means, participants will explore ways to develop a community network which best accommodate the needs of the elderly.
Regarding the research team on "Ma On Shan Community Development", participants were divided into five small groups to be engaged in numerous site visits at public housing estates in Ma On Shan between mid-November and early-December. The purpose of the site visits is to study how the residents utilise public facilities and space, thus allowing the participants to have better planning for the upcoming interviews and for the development of an asset-based community.
To get themselves prepared for the next phase of study, the participants will soon analyse the preliminary research findings, fine-tune the methodology and conduct more site visits and interviews.
