Apart from teaching, our faculty members are equally active in engaging themselves in high quality and ground-breaking research and in applying various grants to support their research. The funding schemes from RGC are the major sources of external grants.
The Faculty organizes a GRF briefing workshop at the beginning of the Fall term every year to encourage colleagues to submit applications for General Research Fund (GRF)/Early Career Scheme (ECS) and other RGC funding schemes.
This year, the workshop was held on 11 September. The Faculty invited the following four professors to share with participants their insights on how to prepare grant proposals based on their experiences as successful grant applicants.
1. Professor Wong Wai Yee, Sharon, ANT
2. Professor Lim Song Hwee, CRS
3. Professor Chan Tsz Yan Evelyn, ENG
4. Professor Lee Hun Tak Thomas, LIN
Professor Lee also shared his experience in reviewing GRF/ECS proposals when he served the RGC Humanities and Social Science Panel.
Participants got tips on packaging their proposals and concrete assessment criteria of proposals. The workshop ended with a fruitful discussion and casual sharing under a relaxing environment.
