Professor John Lagerwey recently wrote three journal articles: "The Continent of the Gods" published in Review of Religion and Chinese Society (vol. 6, pp. 188-208), "The Emergence of a Temple-Centric Society" in Minsu quyi (iss. 205, pp. 29-102), and an introduction to the special issue of Minsu quyi on "The Emergence of a Temple-Centric Society" (iss. 205, pp. 1-16).

Dr Tim Summers has three recently published articles. His "The UK's China Policy under US-China Strategy Rivalry: The Impact of Think Tank Research" has been published in China Quarterly of International Strategic Studies, vol. 5, no.2, pp. 1-20. Additionally, his "The Belt and Road Initiative in Southwest China: Responses from Yunnan Province" is now made available online by The Pacific Review ( DOI: 10.1080/09512748.2019.1653956); his "The External Affairs of the Hong Kong SAR: UK-Hong Kong Economic Relations" is also published by Asian Education and Development Studies, vol. 8, issue 2, pp. 126-136. Finally, Dr Summers authored China's Hong Kong: The Politics of a Global City. It is published by Agenda Publishing.

Professor Jan Kiely co-edited the newly published book Fieldwork in Modern Chinese History: A Research Guide with Professor Thomas DuBois of Beijing Normal University. Published by Routledge, the edited volume contains chapters from three CCS faculty members. Professor David Faure contributed Chapter 1, "They went to the people but did they hear them? Comments on field research in China in the 1920s and 1930s". Professor John Lagerwey contributed Chapter 9, "Basic questions for fieldwork on pre-1949 Chinese society". Professor Kiely himself contributed the twenty-fourth and final chapter, "Exploring a northern Jiangsu county Intangible Cultural Heritage archive".
