1. MIFARE Upgrade for CU Link

CU Link has two types of application, one is contact type and the other one is contactless type.  MULTOS is the smart chip inside the card that takes care of the contact type applications while MIFARE Classic chip serves the contactless applications.  The major function of contactless applications is door access control.

The CU Link contactless chip will be upgraded to MIFARE Plus for the sake of enhancing security level.


2. Suspension of CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn) on 20-21 Jul for System Upgrade

ITSC is happy to announce that approval has been received from Academic IT Steering Committee to upgrade our CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn) to a new version (from 9.1 SP7 to 9.1 SP11) during Summer Term Break.

During the system upgrade, service of Blackboard Learn will be suspended from 20 Jul 2am to 21 Jul 9pm.


3. CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP11) New Features and Workshops

The coming CU eLearning System (Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP11), to be launched on 21 Jul 9pm, will fix some of the known issues. It will also bring you enhancements and new features while majority of the functions remain the same as current Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP7. Here are some of the highlights:

4. Microsoft Campus License Agreement Update

The University has subscribed to the Microsoft Campus Agreement from 1 Jun 2013 to 31 May 2014. Departments are granted the right to use the following software covered by the Agreement within the above subscription period:

The renewed campus agreement gives us the right to use a number of Microsoft software on all the University-owned PCs.


5. Get Wi-Fi Service Ready for your Event / Conference

CUguest Wi-Fi Service (SSID=CUguest) provides University guests with Wi-Fi internet access on a short term basis. Both free and charged services are available:

Your guests can enjoy Internet access at the Wi-Fi covered locations on campus.


6. Feature: Keep your Data out of Hackers' Reach!

Protecting our data and information against hackers has recently become the talk of the town. At ITSC, we strive to protect all data that are processed and stored by the central information systems and data that flow through our campus network.  But there are also some simple practices that you may adopt to keep your valuable information and data out of hackers' reach.
