A delegation led by Prof. Zhu Li-lan, President of the Board of Trustees of Ho Leung Ho Lee (HLHL) Foundation, Former Chairlady of NPC Education, Science, Culture and the Public Health Committee and also Former Minister of Science and Technology of PRC, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 29 May 2012. Members of the delegates included Mr. DUAN Ruichun, Secretary General of the Adjudication Committee of HLHL Foundation; representatives from the Foundation, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR and Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre.

A delegation headed by Mr. Zhou Dating, Director of National Office for Science and Technology Awards visited CUHK on 31 May. The aim of the visit was to obtain more information about the development of science and technology of CUHK.

A 5-member delegation from Fudan University headed by Vice President Prof. Lin Shangli visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 17 and 18 May 2012. The aim of the visit was to discuss the collaborative development of Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Institute (the Institute) jointly established by CUHK and Fudan University in 2001.

Prof. Tong Shijun, Party Secretary of East China Normal University (ECNU) led a 10-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 11 May 2012. The visit was paid to understand the human resource management, student admission of the University, as well as to explore collaboration opportunity.

A 4-member delegation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) visited Taiwan Central University (NCU) on 18 May 2012 to take part in a Symposium on General Education, a cross-strait activity under the framework of Green University Consortium among CUHK, NCU, and Nanjing University (NJU).

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized graduate programme information sessions at our mainland partner universities in Beijing from 28 to 29 May 2012. Nineteen participating faculty and staff members from different faculties and schools of CUHK joined the event.

The fourth retreat of the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) – The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) State Key Laboratory (SKL) of Oncology in South China was held in Foshan from 21 to 22 April. Over 200 researchers and students from SYSU and CUHK attended the meeting.

2012 Guangdong-Hong Kong Forum for Academic Exchange Heads was held in Hong Kong on 14 May. About 50 representatives, including representatives from the Education Department of Guangdong Provincial Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, the Education Bureau, as well as administrators from 8 Hong Kong tertiary institutions and 29 mainland institutions attended the forum. Ms. Wing Wong, Director; and Ms. Samantha Wong, Programme Manager of Academic Links (China) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) participated in the event on behalf of the University.

The Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Training Class was held in the Chinese University of (CUHK) from 7 to 13 May 2012. The class comprised of twenty-three executives from various units in SJTU.

-      Prof. Wang Yue, Chairman of C.P.P.C.C. of Zhenhai District, Ningbo City led a delegation to CUHK on 5 May. The delegation, accompanied by Mr. William King, Trustee of Shaw College, met with Prof. Woody Chan, member of Assembly of Fellows and Warden of Kuo Mou Hall to understand the college system of CUHK.

Every year, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) sponsors and co-sponsors hundreds of international scientific meetings with different scales, some of which are of very high academic level and reflect the latest international developments in science and technology.  CAS compile the List of the International Scientific Meetings 2012, which includes a total of 131 meetings, especially for scientists both at home and abroad to be kept informed of the latest information.  These academic conferences may be a good platform for exchange with academics in the mainland.
