President of Huaqiao University Visits CUHK

 

Prof. Jia Yimin and Prof. Xu Xipeng, President and Vice-President of Huaqiao University, led a 5-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on March 21.  During their visit, delegates met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK.

 

Both sides explored collaboration opportunities concerning the research of Asia-Pacific region, particularly on the national One Belt One Road policy.  The delegates next visited the University's Art Museum and University Gallery, and shared managerial experience with Prof. Josh Yiu and Prof. Xu Xiaodong, Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Art Museum.

 

Through the visit, the delegation obtained more information about CUHK and established links for further collaboration.

Vice-Presidents of Fudan University Share Experience with CUHK Members

 

Prof. Xu Zheng and Prof. Zhang Zhiyong, Vice-Presidents of Fudan University, led a 5-member delegation to visit CUHK on March 16.  They held meetings with Prof. Fung Tung, Associate Vice-President of CUHK and members of the University including Mr. Edmond Lam, Director of Estates Management; Ms Wing Wing, Director of Academic Links (China), and representatives of the Campus Development Office and the University Safety Office.

 

The delegates shared experience of campus planning and development as well as estates management with CUHK members. After the meeting, the delegation toured around green buildings such as An Integrated Teaching Building (AITB) and Lo Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building.  They learned more about CUHK's green architectures and facilities, and also a range of measures for laboratory and energy management.

 

CUHK has developed partnership with Fudan University since 1985. The visit further strengthened the bilateral ties between the two universities.

Vice-President of East China Normal University Visits CUHK

 

Prof. Mei Bing, Vice-President of East China Normal University (ECNU), visited CUHK with a six-member delegation on March 18. The delegates met with Prof. Michael Hui, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Ms Corinna Lee, Director of Personnel; and Ms Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China).  Both sides exchanged views and shared experience on the overall planning of university administration, personnel system and management, as well as academic links and collaboration. The visit enhanced mutual understanding and established closer links between the two universities.

Visit of Officials from Ningbo City Government

 

Mr. Huang Zhiming, Deputy Secretary of Ningbo City Government and Mr. Chen Wenhui, Deputy Director of Ningbo Education Bureau, led a five-member delegation to visit CUHK on 7 March. They met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Prof. Francis Chan, Faculty Dean of Medicine; Prof. Freedom Leung, Dean of Students of Shaw College during the visit. Discussion was held on collaboration opportunities concerning talent admission, medical sciences education as well as robot research at the meeting. The visit further nurtured friendship and enhanced ties, which paved the way for further collaboration.

Other Important Visits

 

  • Mr. Zhang Jianren, Municipal Committee Member of Cixi, Zhejiang Province, led a four-member delegation to visit CUHK and met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK to discuss on possible collaboration projects.

  • Eleven officials from Huizhou Daya Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone visited CUHK on March 21 and met with Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; and Prof. Wong Kam-fai, Associate Dean of Engineering. Discussions on exchange of scientific talents, innovation of technologies and integration of industry chains were held.

  • Prof. Lyu Yubo, Honorary President of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, led a seven-member delegation to visit the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) of CUHK and met with Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of SBS and Prof. Fung Kwok-pui, Deputy Director of SBS.  The delegates learnt more about clinical foundation plans and visited the School's lab facilities.
