Invited by CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, members of the technological and educational sectors of Hong Kong, comprising academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), leaders of local universities and research institutes, as well as specialists in relevant fields, formed a 24-member delegation to visit Hunan Province. Professor Tan Tieniu, Vice Minister of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR served as the honorary consultant of the delegation. Professor Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) joined the delegation on behalf of CUHK,
Delegates met with various officials, among which are Mr. Xu Dazhe, Governor of Hunan Province and Dr. Li Weiwei, Chairperson of CPPCC Provincial Committee, to learn about the general developments of Hunan Province, as well as its Changsha City and Zhuzhou City. They also visited a number of institutions including High Speed Train Research Centre of Central South University, National Supercomputing Center in Changsha of Hunan University, Hunan University of Technology, The Yuelu Academy, Smart Train Project in Zhuzhou, Zoomlion and Guangxiu Hospital. Sharing sessions were held in which a series of collaboration initiatives were concluded to promote innovativation and technology cooperation and enhance prosperous developments of both Hunan and Hong Kong.
The delegation realizes the large room for collaboration in education and research between Hunan and Hong Kong. Given Hunan's outstanding achievements in technological innovation and the increasingly cooperation and exchange between the two regions, it is hoped that synergy will be achieved through exploring more diverse channels of collaboration.
