President of Fudan University Visits CUHK to Foster Collaboration
Prof. Xu Ningsheng, President of Fudan University (FDU) led an eight-member delegation to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 9 January. The delegates met with senior members of CUHK, including Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President; Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Wong Suk Ying, Associate-Vice-President; Prof. Lai Pan Chiu, Faculty Dean of Arts; Prof. Christopher Gane, Faculty Dean of Law; Prof. Wong Kam Bo, School Director of Life Sciences; Prof. Fung Tung, Department Chairman of Geography and Resource Management; Prof. Cheung Sui Wai, Deputy Department Chairman of History; Prof. Xi Chao, Director of Chinese Law Programme and Professor of Faculty of Law; Prof. Gary Wong, Professor of Department of Paediatrics; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China).
At the meeting, the two universities discussed various exchange projects covering research collaboration, joint supervision and executive interflow programmes, and devised plans to enhance the joint efforts in field of translational medicine and social science based on current solid collaborative foundation. The two presidents witnessed the renewal of Shanghai-Hong Kong Development Institute between CUHK and FDU, committing the long-term collaboration plan of the joint institute.
Fudan University is one of the key partner institutions of CUHK in mainland China. Since the establishment of partnership in 1985, both universities have carried out a wide variety of collaborative projects. A bilateral Partnership Steering Committee was set up in 2015 to forge effective and sustainable relationship. Both FDU and CUHK are members of the Alliance of University General Education and China-UK Humanities Alliance for Higher Education. CUHK is the only member institution from Hong Kong for both alliances.

Director of Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality visits CUHK
Mr. Nie Xin Ping, Director of Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, accompanied by other government officials from the Commission, Pingshan District, Futian District, Guangming District and Prof. Sung Dong Bai, Executive Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 24 January.
Delegates came to learn more about CUHK's latest research development during the meeting with Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President; Prof. Fanny Cheung and Prof. Chan Wai Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellors; Prof. Martin Wong, Faculty Dean of Engineering; Prof. Xie Zuowei, Faculty Dean of Science; Prof. Liu Yun Hui, Director of T Stone Robotics Institute; Prof. Christopher Cheng, Director of Shenzhen Research Institute; Prof. Tjonnie Li, Assistant Professor of Department of Physics; Prof. Owen Ko, Assistant Professor of Neurology from Department of Medicine and Therapeutics; Dr. Ken Yeung, Associate Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services; Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) and Mr. Chan Chi Ho, Director of Strategic Developments.
President Tuan gave updates to the delegation the University's research advancements while professors shared with the delegates their respective research achievements. Mr. Nie introduced the latest development of Shenzhen, in particular the new Science Town at Guangming District. Both sides discussed upon future collaboration plans to bring together the CUHK's research strengths and Shenzhen's extensive experience in commercialization for Shenzhen-Hong Kong inno-tech cooperation. The visit provided opportunity for CUHK and Shenzhen Municipal Government to foster communication, paving way for consolidating future science and technology collaboration.

Deputy Director of Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission Visits CUHK
Mr. Chen Jian Rong, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission led a 10-member delegation to visit CUHK on 29 January. The delegation met with Prof. Fok Tai-fai and Prof. Chan Wai Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) and Mr. Chan Chi Ho, Director of Strategic Developments. Members of both sides shared views on enhancing such Guangdong-Hong Kong collaboration as establishment of joint research units and co-supervision of talents in the region.
Representatives of CUHK introduced the University's latest development to the delegates, and expressed hope in drawing advantages from both Guangzhou and Hong Kong for potential research and education collaboration under the Greater Bay Area Initiative. This visit not only established the links between the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the University, but also strengthened understanding to expand the field of partnership development.

Director of HK-Macao-Taiwan Affairs of Education Department of Hebei Visits CUHK
Mr. Hou Jianguo, Director of Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Affairs of Education Department of Hebei Province led a 6-member delegation to The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 21 January. The delegation met with Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) to understand the latest development of the University. Both sides explored opportunities to further promote educational and cultural collaboration.
