Guests officiated at the opening ceremony included Prof. Shen Yan, Vice President of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Mr. Mo Jinqiang, Deputy Director-General of Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, and Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chacellor of CUHK.
Over 50 leading scholars from the mainland and Hong Kong in the field of biomedical sciences attended the Symposium and around 20 talks were delivered. Prof. Zhang Xue from Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Prof. Dennis Lo, Associate Dean of Medicine of CUHK gave plenary talks on the first day of the Symposium.
Academic scholars participating in the Symposium were warmly received. Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor, hosted a luncheon in CUHK. Guests also visited the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) and met with the representatives from SBS for academic exchange.
The Symposium provided a platform for exchange of expertise and research progress on developmental studies in heath and diseases. It served the purpose of fostering dynamic academic exchange and research collaboration among the scientists from the mainland and Hong Kong.
