The University Council has approved the appointment of Professor Chan Sun-on to be the 13th Head of New Asia College for a period of four years starting 1 January 2021, succeeding Professor Henry N.C. Wong.

Professor Chan is an alumnus of New Asia College. He is currently Professor and Associate Director of the School of Biomedical Sciences as well as Associate Head of New Asia College. He has been Dean of General Education of our College since 2009, and also served as Dean of Students from 1998 to 2000. Professor Chan has made tremendous contributions to the College as well as to the all-round development of students. He is a member of the College Board of Trustees, the University Senate and the University Council.

During the special meeting with our College stakeholders held on 22 October 2020, Professor Chan communicated frankly with participants on directions of future College development, showing his solid understanding of all College matters, and his great wealth of administrative experience. His being appointed to the College Headship has received unanimous support from all parties concerned.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Professor Henry N.C. Wong for his dedication and leadership as the 10th and 12th College Head for a total of 15 years. We wish him every success in all his future endeavours.
