President of Shandong University Visits CUHK
Professor Fan Liming, President of Shandong University (SDU) and Professor Chen Zijiang, Vice-President and Dean of Cheeloo College of Medicine, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in a group of six on 2 April. During the visit, they met with Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Professor Chan Wai-yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and School Director of Biomedical Sciences (SBS); Professor Wan Chao, SBS and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) for discussions about achievements yielded on joint research and future plans of enhancing collaboration.
Professor Tuan introduced the University's latest development, outlining the University's strategic areas of research and China Engagement Strategy to the delegates. Both sides concluded the accomplishments of the Joint Laboratory on Reproductive Genetics and exchanged ideas on further collaboration plans such as China studies and relevant projects. The guests were next led to tour around the facilities of biomedical science including laboratories and other supporting services at the Lo Kwee Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building, while discussing various staff and student mobility projects.
Shandong University and CUHK have joined hands to develop a range of joint projects in nursing, reproductive medicine and social sciences, including student interflow, academic exchange and research collaboration. In 2013, a Joint Research Laboratory on Reproductive Genetics was established. This visit strengthened links and communication between the two universities for the advancement and expansion of further collaboration.

Vice President of NSFC Visits CUHK
Dr. Gao Ruiping, Vice President of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) again on 17 April. The delegation was received by CUHK members including Professor Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of University Research Committee; Professor Irwin King, Associate Faculty Dean of Engineering; Dr. Lee Chi-ming, Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China)
Apart from knowing the University's latest research development, the delegation held discussions with CUHK members about academic links between the two regions and administration of research funds, exploring ways to facilitate funding applications by Hong Kong universities. This visit contributed to enhance communication between CUHK and NSFC, expanding the scope of further collaboration.
NSFC has been in a close collaborative relationship with CUHK. The Foundation has been co-organizing annual academic symposia of different themes with CUHK since 2007, providing platforms for intellectual exchange between scientists and scholars in mainland China and Hong Kong, while exploring collaboration opportunities.

Visit of President of South China Agricultural University
Professor Liu Yahong, President of South China Agricultural University (SCAU), together with various leaders of academic and administrative units of SCAU, visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 26 April to explore collaboration in fields of life and health under the development of the Greater Bay Area.
The delegates met with Professor Fok Tai-fai, Acting Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; Professor Wong Kam-bo, Director of School of Life Sciences (SLS); Professor Lam Hon-ming, Director of State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (SKLA) and Professor Jiang Liwen, Deputy Director of SKLA. CUHK members briefed the guests on CUHK's recent developments, as well as the latest achievements of SLS and relevant academic fields. Professor Lam led a tour to SKLA's facilities, introducing recent research projects after the meeting.
As a member of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance which was initiated by CUHK, Sung Yat-sen University and University of Macau, SCAU has launched projects of staff visits and student interflow in collaboration with CUHK. The visit strengthened exchange and enhanced mutual understanding, facilitating the expansion of collaboration.

Party Secretary of Fudan University Leads Delegates to Visit CUHK
Professor Yin Dongmei, Deputy Party Secretary of Fudan University (FDU), led a seven-member delegation to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 26 April, during which the delegates met with Professor Dennis Ng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and visited Chung Chi College to learn about the various levels of student services rendered by the University.
Professor Ng shared the experience and challenges of student affairs management in recent years and discussed ways to enhance future collaboration with FDU members. Professor Fong Wing-ping, Head of Chung Chi College; Professor Ko Wing-hung, Associate Head and College Dean of Students and Mr. Samuel Hung, Assistant Director of Student Affairs introduced CUHK's work in supporting students' whole-person development and career planning to the delegates.
Since the establishment of partnership in 1985, CUHK and FDU have carried out a wide range of collaborative projects. Not only being a key member institution in alliances including University College Alliance, Alliance of University General Education and China-UK Humanities Alliance with FDU, CUHK is also the only member institution from Hong Kong for these alliances. The visit contributed to the enhancement of mutual understanding, paving the way for further collaboration in bolstering student interflow.
