2012 Guangdong-Hong Kong Forum for Academic Exchange Heads was held in Hong Kong on 14 May. About 50 representatives, including representatives from the Education Department of Guangdong Provincial Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, the Education Bureau, as well as administrators from 8 Hong Kong tertiary institutions and 29 mainland institutions attended the forum. Ms. Wing Wong, Director; and Ms. Samantha Wong, Programme Manager of Academic Links (China) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) participated in the event on behalf of the University.

The theme of the forum was "Internationalization of University". Representatives from Guangdong and Hong Kong discussed the progress and challenges they met in the implementation of internationalization in universities, stating the problems encountered and possible action plans. In the forum, Ms. Wing Wong gave a presentation as one of the two HK representatives and shared with the counterparts the experience of CUHK in the university's internationalization.

The meeting provided opportunities for the heads in academic exchange units from the two regions to share their experience in higher education sector without boundaries. Participants not only obtained valuable knowledge, but also established stronger links with each other through this event.

In 2009, the first "Guangdong-Hong Kong Forum for Academic Exchange Heads" was held in Guangdong. In 2010, the Forum was held in Hong Kong. CUHK served as the convener on Hong Kong side in these two years.
