President of Tongji University Visits CUHK Prof. Zhong Zhihua, President of Tongji University (TJU) led a delegation to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 9 January 2018. The delegates met with Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) to discuss ways of enhancing collaboration on academic exchange. Prof. Fok gave a detailed introduction of the University, particularly on the latest developments in academic linkage. Both sides explored the potential and direction of collaborative plans in the areas of education, innovation and entrepreneuship. This visit contributed to boolster communication between CUHK and TJU, expanding the scope of collaboration in future. --------------- Delegation led by Deputy Secretary of Fudan University A 5-member delegation led by Prof. Xu Zheng, Deputy Party Secretary of Fudan University, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 29 January 2018. Delegates came to learn more about CUHK's student affairs management during the meeting with Prof. Dennis Ng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Edwin Chan, Associate Vice-President of CUHK. Other participants from CUHK included Mr. Raymond Leung, Director of Student Affiars and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China). Prof. Ng gave updates to the delegation the University's advancements with an introduction of CUHK's unique college system. Mr. Raymond Leung reported on the development of the University's student affairs and shared experiences on management and specialization of counselling services, with views on whole-person development with the delegation. Fudan University is one of the key partner institutions of CUHK. Since the establishment of partnership in 1985, both universities have carried out a wide variety of collaborative projects. A Partnership Steering Committee was set up by the two universities in 2015 to forge effective and sustainable relationship. Both CUHK and Fudan University joined the Alliance of University General Education and the China-UK Humanities Alliance for Higher Education under where CUHK as the only member institution from Hong Kong. The visit enhanced friendship between the two universities to forge sustainable partnership and strengthen bilaterial linkage. --------------- Visit led by Vice-President of South China Normal University Prof. Shen Wenhuai, Vice President of South China Normal University (SCNU), led a 7-member delegation to visit The Chinese Universtiy of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 15 January 2018. Prof. Isabella Poon, , Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; and Prof. Leung Mei-yee, Director of University General Education received the guests and exchanged views and experience with the delegation on curriculum design and development of general education in the University. The delegates were then arranged to have class observation of two general education courses including "Earth as Seen From Space" and tutorial session of "In Dialogue With Nature", to understand how CUHK equips students with intellectual capacity via whole-person development. The general education programme of CUHK aims to furnish our students with a broad intellectual perspective and to engage them in active reflections on perennial issues. This visit enriched SCNU's understanding of the holistic and balanced education of the University with both formal and non-formal elements, laying a strong foundation for future collaboration in promoting general education in universities. --------------- Vice-President of Zhengzhou University Visits CUHK A 6-member delegation of Zhengzhou Univeristy led by Vice-President Prof. Zhang Qianhong, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 25 January. During their stay, the delegates met with Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President and Mr. Samuel Hung, Assistant Director of Career Planning and Development Centre, Office of Student Affairs to discuss collaboration opportunities in academic exchange and student interflow. Prof. Wong gave an introduction of the University to the delegates, with focus on education, admissions, the college system and academic links. Representatives from the student affairs exchanged views with the delegates on the Univeristy's services for students in all-round career development support. The visit facilitated the establishment of linkage and explored further collaboration plans between the two universities. |
