President of Jilin University Visits CUHK and Renews Collaboration Agreement
A four-member delegation from Jilin University visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 15 December. Among the delegates are Prof. Li Yuanyuan, President of Jilin University and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE); and Prof. Yu Jihong, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). They met with CUHK senior members including Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor. CUHK and Jilin University renewed the collaboration agreement during the visit.
The two Presidents discussed collaboration opportunities in various aspects at the meeting, which included research areas in chemistry, material science, earth science, agricultural science and robotics. Both sides also agreed to devise collaborative plans to enhance faculty mobility, nuture young talents for long-term engagement and jointly organize student activities.
The delegation next met with representatives of the Faculty of Science, where the delegates explored future collaboration plans with Prof. Xie Zuowei, Acting Dean of Science; Prof. Wang Jianfang, Assistant Dean of Science; Prof. Xin Zhouping, Associate Director of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences and William M.W. Mong Professor of Mathematics; Prof. Jimmy YU, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Chemistry; Prof. Lam Hon-ming, Deputy Directors of State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology and Institute of Plant Molecular Biology and Agricultural Biotechnology; Prof. QIN Ling, Director of the Orthopadeic Learning Centre; and Prof. WONG Teng Fong, Director of the Earth System Science Programme.
Through the visits and relevant tours, the delegation deepened their understanding about the University and established closer links with CUHK members, paving the way for future collaboration developments with specific plans.

Vice-President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Visits CUHK
Prof. Luo Jiming, Vice-President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) during his visit to CUHK on 9 December. Plans of research collaboration in optoelectronic technology were discussed at the meeting.
CUHK members joining the meeting included Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President; and Prof. Chen Shih-chi, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering. Apart from research collaboration in optoelectronic, discussion on student interflow to enhance reseach collaboration was also held including plans on joint supervision of research students and other student interflow activities. The visit enhanced links between the two universities for further partnership development.

Delegation led by Vice-President of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications Visits CUHK
Prof. Wen Xiangming, Vice-President of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), led a 13-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 12 December. The delegates met with Prof. Isabella Poon, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. Cecilia Chun, Director of Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) to exchange views on teaching and learning enhancement.
Prof. Poon welcomed the delegates and introduced to the delegates the recent developments of the University. Special focus was given on the features of CUHK's teaching and learning updates. The delegates then paid visit to CLEAR and met with Prof. Chun, who shared her teaching experience with delegates on topics relating to the University's teaching management and reforms, the latest projects in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the role of technological applications in teaching and learning enhancement.
BUPT has a close link with CUHK in information and communication engineering. The two universities jointly established CUHK–BUPT Intelligent Internet Laboratory (State Key Laboratory of Networking and Switching Technology CUHK Joint Research Base in Shenzhen). BUPT students have participated in the Summer Research Placement Programme for short-term research training in CUHK. This visit enhanced mutual understanding, strengthening the relationship between the two universities.

Visit of Associate Vice-President of Nanjing University
Prof. Pu Lijie, Associate Vice-President of Nanjing University (NJU) led a delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 12 December. Meeting was held with Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President of CUHK and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) during the visit. Both sides discussed a series of collaboration plans ranging from general education courses, executive exchange programmes and student interflow activities. The visit provided more opportunities for communication and facilitated partnership development, further broadening the scope of collaboration between the two universities.
